Premium camping hammock company Kammok has just launched the Outpost – a vehicle-mounted hammock stand for off-grid adventures, including road trip car camping and overlanding.

The Kammok Outpost is described the ultimate vehicle-mounted hammock stand for off-grid adventures. It looks epic and we can’t wait to get our hands on one!

There’s a waitlist to get one and you can pre-order yours now on Kammok’s website with $100 off the MSRP.

Here’s why we’re so excited about this cool new car camping product.

What you need to know about the Kammok Outpost Hammock Stand

If you’re already familiar with hammock camping, then you already know its benefits and advantages over tent camping, including:

  • that weightless sway and coccoon vibe
  • the minimalist packing and setup, and
  • the joy of sleeping comfortable, even over uneven ground.

However, unless you have a couple of well-placed posts or trees, you may find that you need a hammock stand to get set up properly for the night.

If you’re into car camping or overlanding then the Kammok Outpost is a great sleeping solution – it’s more space and fuel-efficient (not to mention way more affordable) than a roof top car tent, and offers the convenience and enjoyment factor of hammock camping.

If you’re camping with friends or family, you can mount multiple Outpost hammock stands to your car or truck.

Setup and mounting the Outpost requires no tools and can be done by one person in less than a minute.

The crossbars fold out easily (much like a tripod), and the telescoping legs make it easy to set up and collapse.

The legs are independently adjustable, so if you’re parked over uneven ground, it’s not a problem as the stand can be fully adjusted and leveled.

You have the option to mount the Outpost wherever convenient on your vehicle with the included stock mount kit, which is compatible with most crossbars and roof racks with t-slots.

This also makes it a versatile option if you may use it with different vehicles as there’s no issue with roof rack or crossbar compatibility.

The Kammok Outpost’s swivel ball mount allows a versatile range of angles and heights

Once attached to your vehicle, the ball mount allows you to swing the crossbar so you can position the hammock stand at a range of different angles from the vehicle.

Speaking of compatibility, this Kammok hammock stand is compatible with their full line of hammocks, including our favorite, the lightweight Mantis, as well as their Sunda, and Roo lines.

This hammock stand is also designed so that it will work most other styles of hammock that you already own.

By the way, if you need a hammock, visit our best camping hammocks guide for advice on how to choose, and some recommendations. Also check out our car camping checklist for tips on what else to pack for a camping trip.

For camping in inclement weather, you can use the horizontal cross-bar as a tarp ridgeline, which is demonstrated in this video on YouTube.

The powder-coated frame is constructed from aluminum and steel, and weighs 22lb (10kg).

At over 12 feet long, the Outpost hammock stand is ideal for taller campers to lay flat in a hammock, plus it has a weight capacity 300 lb (136.1 kg)

It packs down to not much larger than a collapsible camp chair (52 x 6.5 x 6 inches) into its ‘grab and go’ travel bag, which easily fits in the trunk of a small SUV.

Cost and where to buy a Kammok Outpost

As of the date of this post (November 2022) Kammok is taking pre-orders of the Outpost at $399.95, which includes a $100 discount on the MSRP of $499.95.

If you like the idea of the Kammok Outpost but don’t necessarily want your hammock stand to attach to a vehicle, then check out the Kammok Swiftlet portable hammock stand – it’s a similar concept but with a freestanding, lightweight go-anywhere stand. Learn more in our Kammok Swiftlet Review.
