What is the Mighty Vibe music player?
Mighty Vibe, or just the ‘Mighty’ music player, is a small, portable, and lightweight audio player that can be synced with Amazon Music and Spotify music services so that you can download and take music on the go with you without having to use your phone or even have your phone with you.
Benefits of the Mighty Vibe
Here are the key benefits of using the Mighty Vibe for playing music and podcasts on the go, while running, during workouts, or at home/work.
1. Using Mighty Vibe saves on phone battery and usage
This little audio player is perfect if you don’t want or like to have your phone with you when you’re running, working out, or listening to music while working or traveling. I personally like to conserve my phone’s battery, and by having a dedicated music player that works with my Amazon Music service, I can listen to music for hours without touching my phone at all!
2. Mighty Vibe syncs with Spotify and Amazon Music
Mighty Vibe works with Spotify and Amazon Music which are two of the largest players music streaming services out there. The Vibe doesn’t, however, work with Apple Music yet which is our preferred choice for streaming music. Luckily for us we also happen to be Amazon Prime subscribers too, which means we get Amazon Music included! The Mighty Vibe is easy to connect and sync wirelessly and can download up to around 1,000 songs.

At the time of writing, Mighty can be used with Amazon Music in Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States and can be used with Spotify Premium plans in every country where Spotify is available.
3. The Mighty Vibe connects with your Bluetooth wireless headphones

The Mighty Vibe clips onto your hydration pack (see below) or clothing so you can wear it anywhere on your body or bag, and if you are using wireless headphones that means it doesn’t have to be near your neck to connect with your headphones.
4. Long playtime
From a full charge, the Mighty Vibe player should play music for five or more hours. That’s plenty for most people’s workouts.
5. The Mighty Vibe is an affordable gadget
While a new smartphone such as an iPhone can set you back hundreds of dollars and is therefore very expensive if you damage it and need to fix or replace it, the Mighty Vibe is a cost-effective way of listening to music and podcasts while running or working out, especially if you’re somewhere such as on the trails, where it may get knocked about and a bit wet or dirty without putting your precious phone at risk. At the time of writing the Mighty Vibe costs US $84.99 directly from Mighty.
6. Small but Mighty (Vibe)
The Mighty Vibe is very small at only 1.5 inch x 1.5 inch. So it will fit in any pocket and not be obstructive when clipped on to your clothing or pack.
Using the Mighty Vibe – Initial Setup
Setup is pretty straightforward. First, ensure you have access to either Spotify or Amazon Music, then download the Mighty Audio App.

By following the instructions in the Mighty Audio App, you can sync your music to your Mighty Vibe device, and, using your phone, pair your Bluetooth headphones/speaker with it, too. Once the Bluetooth headphones are paired and you have music synced to the Vibe, then you should be good to go!
If you’re using regular headphones with a cable then you don’t need to set up the headphones as described above.
NOTE – check in the Mighty App for whether your Vibe needs a software update to be installed. Mine did, which took a couple of minutes to do.
I synced two of my Amazon Music playlists, ‘bands’ and ‘chilling’ to my Mighty Vibe and was able to play music from the first playlist, ‘bands’, straight away after doing this setup. However, when I pressed the button at the top right of the device to switch to the ‘chilling’ playlist, the playlist was announced, but no music played – all I could hear is ‘chilling’ whenever I pressed a button.
A visit to the FAQs page of the Mighty website indicated my software needed updating. I checked but the software was already up to date. Hmm. Next, in good old ‘tech expert’ fashion, I turned my Vibe off (by holding the play button for more than four seconds), waited a minute, and turned it back on. Voila, it works just fine now, so I assume I was just being a little impatient with it and needed to give it a minute post-update before use.
To turn the Mighty Vibe on, you need to just press the play button once. However, note that it takes thirty seconds to turn on and be ready to play – be patient!

After turning it on (by pressing the play button) the Mighty Vibe is really simple to use. There is no screen, and you have limited options, essentially, the top right button (‘playlist selector’) cycles through your Spotify or Apple Music playlists when you press it, and you are able to play, pause, adjust the volume or skip forwards or back a track – very similar to an iPod shuffle. You can also shuffle tracks by pressing and holding the playlist selector button.
Is the Mighty Vibe waterproof?
Mighty states that the Vibe is water-resistant and also drop-resistant. It’s lightweight (0.7 ounces) helps to avoid hard impacts if you are to drop it, but it is not super-rugged and so I am careful with mine to not drop it or squash it.
I have not tried soaking it in water but while it has survived some sweat and a sprinkle of rain during my outdoor runs, I would keep it inside a waterproof pocket or in a pocket underneath my waterproof jacket if I was out in the rain, as water can get into the charging/headphone jack and it is not designed to be submerged or really soaked in a deluge.
BUT! If you’re looking for a Mighty Spotify or Amazon Music player that is fully waterproof then Mighty has also launched the ‘Waterproof Mighty Vibe‘ – which you can even take swimming!
Mighty Vibe Review: Where to buy
This price point makes the Mighty Vibe music player an awesome gift for a partner, friend or relative who enjoys listening to music and/or podcasts. The Waterproof Mighty Vibe is more expensive, but still a great deal if you or your gift recipient would be likely to use it in the water without being able to prevent it from getting wet!
