Olympus Marathon

? Featured image photo credit: Ian Corless

The race start is right in the heart of the archaeological site of Dion, three metres above sea level near the foothills of Mount Olympus.

The course climbs the mountain with views extending to the surrounding higher peaks with the โ€˜Throne of Zeusโ€™ dominating the Mousses Plateau with its prominent outline. The trail climbs to pass below the โ€˜Throneโ€™ and reaches the highest point at 2,780m. The downhill to the finish line seems endless but after a visit to the home of the Gods, inspiration goes a long way. This very challenging skyrace will be an adventure through history!

When does it take place?

  • June – please check the race website for this year’s exact dates.

The transport of water bags or race packs, in general, is permitted. In case of special conditions, the organization reserves the right for mandatory equipment.
