My Level Select CBD review covers their bestselling CBD gummies for sleep, focus, and immune support, as well as their CBD ache relief cream which is designed for people with sports injuries and general muscle soreness as a muscle recovery aid.

Level Select is a US-based company that uses US-grown, non-GMO hemp extract to create their CBD edibles and topicals, which are available to buy directly from the company on a one-off or subscription basis, the latter of which offers significant discounts over one-time purchases, as detailed later in this review.

About Level Select CBD

The first thing that’s important to note about the brand is that Level Select CBD manages its own production, equipment, and processing. This differs from other brands which may purchase hemp extract from sources outside of their control – or completely outsource the entire production process.

Managing their own production and processes helps ensure that Level Select’s quality standards are maintained throughout the CBD process, from production to marketing.

Some of Level Select’s edible and topical CBD products covered in this review

Level Select’s CBD products are made with broad-spectrum CBD and have zero percent THC, in comparison to other brands on the market which are made with full-spectrum CBD that may contain THC.

Their products are also cruelty-free and made from US-grown, non-GMO hemp extract.

Additionally, as I would expect of any reputable CBD company, third-party testing is used to confirm quality and the absence of THC in the products, and the results are available to review online via their website.

Level Select also claims to be the only company Kadenwood Brands in the space backed by a former US surgeon general (Dr. Carmona).

Level Select’s topical products are intended to aid with recovery.

They’re offered in three strength levels, with Level 1 being the least and Level 3 offering the highest amount of CBD in terms of mg, so you can choose which would suit your need the best (and hence the name, Level Select).

Level 1 is designed to ease muscles and for everyday discomfort. Level 2 is a higher strength, intended for use where you have muscle soreness, and Level 3 is the maximum strength CBD cream they offer.

The company also sells CBD oil, pet CBD, and gummies for sleep (which contain melatonin), focus (which contain caffeine), and immune support (which contain Vitamin C and ginseng).

Gummies are an enjoyable way to consume CBD orally, and definitely worth considering if you like the idea of using it but don’t want to use the oil and dropper method.

Level Select CBD Gummies

Level Select currently offers three blends of gummies.

Each product is combined with a different ingredient to target specific needs, with the most popular being their CBD gummies for sleep support, ‘Restful Sleep‘.

Gummies serving sizes and CBD concentration

One serving of the gummies (which means two gummies) of any flavor/type provides 25mg of CBD.

You can buy them either in a tub of 60 gummies (30 servings) or trial-size packets containing 10 gummies (5 servings).

CBD gummies with melatonin

The Restful Sleep CBD gummies are made with melatonin as well as lemon balm and are specifically designed to help people who are struggling to have a good night’s sleep.

They’re one of the brand’s most popular products, for good reason: Problems with falling (or staying) asleep are very common and people are seeking sleep aids that are as natural as possible to help with the issue.

Melatonin is widely used as a sleep aid, and the blend of melatonin together with CBD can offer additional relaxation ready for a restful night’s sleep.

The sleep gummies come in a ‘natural berry’ flavor that is pleasant and chewy, not overpowering, and not too sweet. There’s definitely a sweet berry flavor and you do get a hint of that CBD taste, however, it’s much more palatable to me than consuming an oil on my tongue.

The dark specks you can see in the picture below are Spirulina, which is a supplement well known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients like Spirulina and Kale are often found in superfood green powder drinks – something we enjoy taking in the morning when we feel our immunity could be taking a dip due to overtraining or working too hard.

I could sit and eat lots of these in one go, but you’re not recommended to have more than two a day – so that’s something to look forward to eating before bedtime.

In summary, if you’re looking for a CBD sleep aid with the added impact of a melatonin supplement then definitely give these Restful Sleep edibles a go and see if they work for you.

Caffeine and Immune Support Gummies

The other two CBD gummy products are:

  • ‘Focused Energy’, which includes caffeine and ginseng and has a tropical flavor, and
  • ‘Immune Support’, which includes vitamin C and turmeric and has a citrus flavor.

For an alternative to coffee or other caffeinated beverages, the Focused Energy edibles are a great way to go. Again, they have a nice taste, and they provide 20mg of caffeine per serving as well as the 25mg of CBD and 100mg of ginseng.

My favorite of the Level Select CBD gummies are the Immune Support, which do not contain either melatonin or caffeine, so shouldn’t affect your sleep cycle.

The Immune Support edibles are closest to ‘regular’ CBD gummies in that they do not contain caffeine or melatonin

While the Immune Support gummies include a small amount of Vitamin C and immune-boosting turmeric, the dosage of both is very low compared to generally recommended daily doses, so I wouldn’t say these are a replacement for consuming enough Vitamin C in your daily diet (or other supplements).

Level Select CBD Sports Topicals

I’ve used CBD sports creams and other topicals for a number of years to help with issues such as:

  • post-workout recovery
  • alleviating aches from acute injuries such as strains and sprains
  • little running or other sports-related injuries that come up from time to time, and
  • those weird aches you sometimes wake up with after sleeping awkwardly one night.

Level Select’s CBD ache relief creams and roll-ons are designed to provide targeted relief in specific areas of your body.

You can take CBD orally to get it more generally in your system. However, for these more specific/targeted parts of my body, I find applying something to the area can be more impactful in terms of how much of an impact it has on the aches I’m experiencing.

Unlike an edible, a cream, salve, or roll-on application of CBD is specifically rubbed on the area where you are experiencing the aches, similar to arnica and other such remedies.

For more about CBD topicals and how to use them, read our guide to the best CBD balms, salves, and creams next.

Of all the topicals currently available on the market, fast-absorbing creams and roll-ons are my favorite methods of application, as they tend to be less greasy than balms and salves, which have a more oily, ointment-like feel to them.

I’ve been using the 1800mg (Level 3) concentration of CBD in Level Select’s sports cream and roll-on form. This is the strongest (most concentrated) amount of CBD per application.

Depending on how much you use, the company states that you’re getting between 60 and 72mg of CBD per application.

CBD ache relief cream

The Level Select sports CBD cream has a light, non-greasy texture and no color, so I find I can put clothes/socks on shortly after applying it and not worry about it staining, soaking in or sticking to my clothes.

It is currently available in a cooling mint scent.

As well as smelling of mint, which is a rather ‘clinical’ scent, the cream also has the effect of cooling the area you apply it to, which is similar to other sports ache relief creams, balms, and topicals.

The cream has a nice light texture that soaks into the skin quickly

The mint ingredient provides a pleasant, non-tingling sensation, which is particularly enjoyable if I’ve applied it to a very sore area with more acute aches, such as a recently pulled muscle.

While I don’t find the mint smell unpleasant, and the cooling effect is soothing, it is a rather strong smell.

This doesn’t stop me from using the cream, especially as I’m most likely to be putting it on at home or while I’m out getting dirty and sweating on a trail (for example, if I take it in my drop-bag during an ultramarathon or other long trail race).

However, I wouldn’t necessarily feel great about putting some on my upper body and going to a bar or restaurant straight after, so that’s worth knowing if you were planning on using it after work or the gym and heading out somewhere.

CBD roll-on

You can also buy the same-strength CBD topicals in roll-on form.

The roll-on version is a great choice if you want to massage the CBD onto an area without getting any on your hands.

Level Select CBD Review Sports CBD Roll On size reference Trail and Kale web wm 20

Roll-on CBD topicals are great for mess-free use on the go, such as carrying in your backpack, or gym bag, if you need to take it places or if you travel frequently.

This roll-on comes in the same mint formula as the ache relief cream, and it therefore also has that same minty smell to it.

Cost and where to buy

Level Select’s CBD sports creams and roll-ons cost (per 3oz tub or 2.5oz roll-on):

  • Level 3 (1800mg CBD) – $50
  • Level 2 (1200mg CBD) – $40
  • Level 1 (900mg CBD) – $30

A tub of 60 CBD gummies costs $50, which means that if you’re taking one serving a day, it works out to around $50 / month, assuming you don’t buy them on a subscription.

At $50 for these concentrations of CBD in a quality product that’s a pleasure to use (in both edible and topical forms), this is excellent value compared to other CBD brands we have used and reviewed (for reference, compare these prices to other CBD topicals featured in our buyer’s guide).

You get 30% off these prices if you subscribe to buy one item once every 1, 2, or 3 months. This discount increases to 35% if you buy two or more items on subscription.

For a tub of gummies or a Level 3 sports cream/roll-on on subscription, this brings the cost to $35 / month.

If you’re going to use the CBD cream, gummies, or other products regularly, the subscription, therefore, becomes a no-brainer for the amount of money you save compared to buying the products normally.

It’s also worth noting that you get free shipping on all products, and the company offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, in case you don’t enjoy the products and want a refund.
